The passing of a loved one causes great distress in many ways – emotionally, physically, socially, and financially. Grief can be overwhelming. How we handle the passing of a loved one is very personal, comprised of our own values, family traditions, religious beliefs, our relationship to the departed and even the circumstance or untimeliness of their death.

A licensed Funeral Director can assist with transportation of the body, obtaining a death certificate, selecting a casket, urn and/or grave marker as well as the funeral, burial or memorial service. Additionally, the funeral home can assist with preparing the obituary, notifying the deceased’s employer, attorney, insurance company and banks, all while offering grief support.

The process of a funeral service helps us to mourn the loss, honor the departed and start us on the path to healing. The service you choose to hold should be a meaningful celebration of the unique individual being remembered and mindful of religious or cultural beliefs.

There are many factors in choosing burial versus cremation, personal or spiritual philosophy, environmental concern, simplicity or convenience, financial or even geographic proximity. There is a common misconception that, if the departed is cremated there is no funeral. The service that accompanies either burial or cremation is basically the same. Family and friends need time to grieve, the funeral service allows visitors to pay their respects and say goodbye.
